Temple South Rotary has started another year of Flag installations for the Temple area.  Bill Jones, Flag Chairman for this year has 13 teams putting flags out each holiday. We have already displayed flags for Memorial day and Flag Day. The flags are displayed 5 times during the season and the 4th of July, Patriots Day and Veterans Day remain. This is the 15th year of the Flag Project and it was started during Sandy Meyer's Presidency and she was the driving force behind its initiation. We display between 350 to 400 flags each Flag Display Day. Not all areas in Temple are displayed, as much as we would like to display them all over the city we physically can't. If you know someone who would like a flag placed in their yard on those dates let Bill Jones know. The cost is $40 per year and even though it is almost half way through the year, we prorate the cost.  The flags are sold on a subscription basis to individual homeowners in selected neighborhoods. Each subscriber has a steel sleeve driven in to the ground next to the curb in front of their home. The curb is marked to assist in locating the sleeve during flag placement. The flags are picked up prior to sundown each flag display day. We always need help placing flags, especially on traditional federal holidays so let Bill Jones or Doug Smith know.
